Abstract:

For this project we will be collecting plant samples in a city center vs. the urban fringe. For the city center, we have selected Union Square based on its high population density and accessibility to multiple subway trains. And for the urban fringe, we have selected East New York for its low population density and limited accessibility to the subway. We believe that human impact has an effect on the presence of invasive vs. native species. Therefore, we believe that in East New York there would be a higher percentage of native species compared to Union Square which has more human impact.
