Abstract:

This project will collect and barcode limnetic invertebrate species collected from a pond at Brookside County park. The main purpose of this project is to determine the species richness and smoothness of the pond community, assess whether samples have novel barcodes, and use the sequencing results to confirm taxonomic identification of all samples collected. These results can then be used to infer the relative "health" of the pond at Brookside County Park based on the species present within the limnetic macroinvertebrate community.
