Abstract:

Myriapoda is a sub-phylum of arthropods, a phylum that is known to be incredibly important in ecosystems. The effect of soil pH and moisture content on diversity of these organisms however is not well understood. This experiment aims to fill this gap in knowledge by collecting myriapods using a Berlese funnel categorizing them into what we believe the species are and then sending the DNA of at least one of each species to be barcoded. Using our data, we will be able to tell if we should investigate it more and perform a larger scale experiment.
