Abstract:

The goal of this soil sample project is to determine whether diversity can be measured through root vegetation rather than through manual recording of each existing plant. The samples will be collected from the Thain Family Forest in the Bronx Botanical Garden. DNA Barcoding will be used to identify the variety of species and will be compared to a known database.
