Abstract:

Our specific aim is to see how the mute swan affects Centerport’s biodiversity. In order to accomplish this task, we will need to collect plant samples of organisms living around and potentially affected by the invasive species. We would need to compare an area where an invasive species is present to another area where the invasive species is not present in order to have a control group. We will need to know what type of genera are present in both areas, in order to compare and contrast the biodiversity of both locations. Knowing these factors will allow us to compare the diversity of the species present and how the invasive species have an effect on the environment. We would expect to see a lower biodiversity in areas where the invasive species have contacted than that of areas where the invasive species have not.
