Abstract:

This project entails studying the biodiversity on pilings at Satterley's Landing in Mount Sinai Harbor and compare it to last year's data. DNA will be compared from similar species between the two years and any changes will be noted after bioinformatics is completed. Water samples will also be analyzed on the day of species collection for DO, NO3, NO2, NH3, PO4, salinity, and pH using LaMotte colorimetric measurements. These values will also be compared to last year's data for this harbor which is very popular for boating and fishing and shellfishing..
