Abstract:

The aim for this experiment is to test for invasive mosquito species in Long Island. Potentially finding these invasive species could show factors such as global warming, new migration patterns, and human error. Testing for the species, such as Aedes albopictus (Asian Tiger Mosquito), or Aedes aegypti (Yellow Fever Mosquito) (Rochlin, 1) could provide enough evidence to support these claims. In the diagram shown below, these species of mosquitoes are starting to obtain chances to be able to survive in cooler climates most likely due to climate change. This is dangerous because mosquito species that carry the Zika Virus could move up and infect more unprepared populations (Juliano, Steven).
