Abstract:

This project is about how oysters in the New York Harbor, especially in Hudson River, affect the biodiversity. Teachers in our school decided to create a project about Hudson River and we decided to take part in it as studying the oysters and their effect on the habitat in the river. So, as the part of the project, we will adopt a cage with oysters at the beginning of the spring and attach it at the pier of the 125th street. After month or so, we will collect the species on the oysters, in the cage and around the cage and with the help of DNA extraction and analysis we will identify these species to see how they relate to the food web in the river
