Seaweeds grow in a variety of aquatic environments, including oceans, rivers, lakes and other bodies of water, and are found all across the globe. They play an integral role in balancing ecosystems and hence the unfortunate circumstance of human pollution and climate change affecting the viability of seaweeds in the wild is extremely alarming. This experiment aims to address this by testing the effects of pollution on the biodiversity of seaweed, in three distinct bodies of water: the Gowanus Canal, the Hudson River and the East River.
