Abstract:

Prompt recognition of agricultural pests at ports of entry is imperative to prevent economic and ecological damage. This project will test DNA barcoding for agricultural pests, utilizing specimens intercepted at Newark Airport, NJ. Barcoding will be compared to morphologic identifications as determined by Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
