Abstract:

The goal of this study is to compare the biodiversity levels of soil invertebrate fauna between that of an urban green roof and the surrounding ground area. A previous UBRP team started this study in 2016.8 Biodiversity trends and disparities will be monitored and DNA barcoding will be used to verify manual taxonomic identification. It is hypothesized that if biodiversity is examined between the two sites, the green roof site will be more biodiverse because it has advantages that foster biological growth. Such advantages include its geographical elevation and isolation from pedestrian traffic and disturbance.
