Abstract:

Organisms in the East River are threatened by pollution, caused by dumping waste into the river, and use of gas powered boats on the river. Phytoplankton in particular are sensitive to changes in temperature, salinity, nutrients and sunlight. The aims of the experiment are to see how phytoplankton are affected by different levels of pollution and the specific genes that are affected.
