Abstract:

The Forge River is a highly polluted waterway located at regions Mastic Moriches area of Long Island, New York. Previous research has indicated that biodiversity is decreasing along this river. Aquatic macroinvertebrates could be used as indicators. A pollution index will be used to predict species present in this polluted water system. It is expected that organisms that have the ability to survive and tolerate polluted aquatic ecosystems. It is also expected that there will a variation of organisms present based on pollutants present.
