Abstract:

We aim to measure and compare the diversity of algae and aquatic plants in Van Cortlandt Lake and Tibbett’s Brook. We will achieve this by collecting samples of algae and aquatic plants from these two locations and by sequencing the of these samples DNA to determine what species are represented. Then we will compare the number of species collected from each location and compare the species collected, since different species can indicate good water quality or poor water quality.
