Abstract:

We seek to examine the biodiversity of ants in Van Cortlandt Park. We want to know which species of ants there are in Van Cortlandt Park and how to determine what role they play in the environment and whether they are potentially harmful or helpful. We will search the park for ants and then use DNA analysis to determine what species they are. Then we will research the ecology of the species we find in order to understand how they affect the park’s ecosystem.
