Abstract:

Beetles pose a unique threat to humans in many areas that they occupy. Many different species of beetles can pose great risks to the plant life and/or agriculture present in an area. In addition, many species of beetles can act as an invasive species, such as the Emerald Ash Borer and the Asian Longhorned Beetle. By doing a sampling of the beetles present at Caumsett State Park, we would be able to identify whether any of these possibly harmful species of beetles are present in that area. If we were to discover the presence of invasive beetles at Caumsett State Park, we would be able to identify possible environmental impacts that could potentially lead to problems with human health.
