The goal of this research project is to figure out if there are any variations in the different organisms in the salt water surrounding Shelter Island. There will be five samples to analyze, all from different and diverse places from the island’s shore line. The hypothesis for this experiment is that the types of organisms taken from isolated areas, such as Coecles Harbor, will contrast from the types of organisms found in open, unprotected areas like Dawn Lane. There is also the hypothesis that places with more water traffic, such as North and South Ferry, will have less living things and be less diverse than areas that are more healthy.
