Abstract:

Hurricane Sandy has affected our communities greatly. There may be a sign in the school’s garden area that has not been used.The area has not been touched since Hurricane Sandy, four years ago which flooded the area with saltwater. In our experiment we hope to collect samples within six inches of a pole and compare those samples to specimens from the mainland of Long Island. This place on Long Island didn't receive any salt water. Compared to the samples from the mainland our samples maybe very different. Our samples may be more diverse or less diverse, the salt water did kill many organisms, most visibly trees being knocked down but some organisms flourish in salt water.
