Abstract:

The purpose of this experiment is to test if humans have an impact on the biodiversity of invertebrates living in the sand. It will be done by collecting the invertebrates in two different areas of the sand around Jones Beach. The first area with the frequent presence of humans which will be the boardwalk in front of the Jones Beach Bandshell (Jones Beach, Boardwalk, Wantagh, NY 11793). The second will be low activity area at West End 2 (Bay Pkwy, Point Lookout, NY 11569). This will help to determine the effect that human activity inflicts on the biodiversity of invertebrates in the sand. The biodiversity rate of the invertebrates in both areas will be compared to find out how much humans can affect the further assortments of the animal group known as invertebrates.
