Abstract:

For this part of the project we hope to collect as many spiders we can from everywhere in Lindenhurst N.Y.and catalog the specimens based on specific characteristics so that we can differentiate between them, through observation,photographs,and record them into our data.After we have cataloged them, we are going to freeze them in an orderly fashion, extract DNA using various techniques and then examine DNA to determine species. Our aim is to determine if they are native to LI and/or why they are here (why did they migrate?) where they are from. By using resources like the internet, books, and previous research, we will be able to use our observation to find where this species is most abundant. At the end we will create a cladogram analysis using our findings.
