Abstract:

Amphipods represent a significant portion of the invertebrate population in the Peconic River. These organisms play a key role in the ecosystem and they may be an indicator of ecosystem health and stability. These organisms are very diverse and may have the potential to contain previously undocumented DNA sequences.
